Heisman Aspirations to Reality

When Marcus Ardel Taulauniu Mariota was a child he keep a journal with his goals. One of those  goals was to win the NCAA MVP award; The Heisman trophy. That goal became a reality last week when Mariota (the first Heisman winner in Oregon Ducks history) was presented with not only Heisman trophy but also the Davey O'Brien Award, the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, the Maxwell Award, and the Walter Camp Award.  Marcus Mariota posted an unbelievable season with 3783 all-purpose yards, 38 TD, and only 2 interceptions. This remarkable by the countries best QB has led the Oregon Ducks to a 12-1 98-1 in conference play) and also a berth in the inaugural Collage Football Playoffs (CFB).

The Interview

The terrorist who hacked into Sony Entertainment showed how week how our national security is. This may make more people watch what they put and do on their own time. Sony had millions of dollars revealed in secret information. This information included in what directors said and thought about actors, who they thought was better and even leaked movies that no one knew of. The Koreans did not like that it was about trying to assonate the dictator Kim Jong-un. They have released the scene of which that happens and show “The scene features North Korea’s leader, Kim Jung-un (Randall Park), meeting a fiery end as a missile hits his helicopter. As the tyrant perishes from the explosion, the scene is dramatically slowed down to the sounds of Katy Perry’s “Firework.” (From the nypost.com) The movie is a comedy so it’s supposed to be funny but the Koreans communist people did not think it was funny to kill their own leader.

Fahrenheit 9/11

I would say that the information and evidence that Moore provides in his Fahrenheit 9/11 is accurate but it is presented in a way that is misleading. He uses many propaganda techniques to convince the viewer that his point of view is correct in that the Bush administration did not act effectively to the 9/11 terror attack. Techniques that were used in the propaganda efforts were those like using specific music that portrays humility towards president Bush and using pictures that may look like he's exploiting Bush when really Bush was doing nothing wrong. We must credit though Moore for his ability to use accurate information and manipulate it in a way that we believe in what he is saying. None of his data is false and the documents were not made up, he is just good at manipulating things and using what he has.

Learning for the Future

In the future many things will be different from today because our lives are changing rapidly due to technology.  Who knew 40 years ago that we would be addicted to portable phones we call cell phones. Because of this, we will need to adapt to these new technologies and know how to use them due to technology being a keystone feature in our business, as well as personal lives, to be successful. Although technology is making a strong impact on conversational skills today, we will still need to know how to communicate with people face to face.
If you zoom back a few years when it was more common to talk face to face we need to begin to think about how technology has changed. We didn’t have cell phones in first grade, we didn’t have 80 inch flat screen 3D TVs. Our conversational skills were much better than today; today we have so many people more people who have problems with public speaking. Technology can affect us negatively and positively.
I do believe that I will be ready for the 21st century as well as most of my generation. Although we will have to work harder than the next upcoming generation to understand technology just like our parents do today. Not everyone can understand technology easily which will put them lower down on a professional and personal level. It will be interesting to see what comes in the future.

Watching On Native Soil was extremely sad to watch.  Seeing all the people in the two buildings having to choose between life and death was terrible to watch.  I learned a lot more about 9/11 than I had known before.  I learned that the buildings didn't collapse right when the planes hit them, and I learned that there was 4 planes when I thought there was only 3 planes that crashed that day.  It was interesting to me to  hear the survivors tails and the reactions from all the families and friends.  I really liked how they all came together to do what was right and the ending was amazing how the government admitted that they failed us which is really all the people wanted to hear at that point in time.  The events of 9/11 was a huge impact and turning point for America and the thoughts of millions of people.  The mindset of Americans towards the government was decreased and there trust in them was even lower.  The aftermath of 9/11 changed how security worked in airports and and racial profiling was turned into an even bigger deal.
