Comeback of Detroit

After watching the documentary about the fall of Detroit I wanted to talk more about the comeback the city is making and keep things positive. Thanks to many wealthy entrepreneurs, more and more companies are starting to move their buildings to Detroit. A Michigan born billionaire named Dan Gilbert brought all of his Quicken Loans buildings to Detroit and now owns 60 properties in the area. He has put in over $1.3 Billion into the city to help bring more people into the downtown area. Another positive thing coming to Detroit is the new facility that Mike Illitch is building downtown for the Red Wings. Along with the new arena, 184 new apartments will be built and many new restaurant and shopping areas. This will play a huge role in getting more people in the city and many new small businesses. Detroit took a huge blow and considering the tough demeanor that the city has, I am predicting a very impressive comeback in the near future.

  1. Agreed Zach. Although Detroit has had many hard blows the city is still standing and we are ready to make our comeback. I would like to live to see Detroit be as thriving as it once was. Imagine Detroit like New York or Chicago. Detroit is putting in a lot of work since declaring its bankruptcy and I believe it will all pay off. Although Mr. Gilbert and Mr. Illitch are making headlines, there are many other small business making an impact on Detroit. Also Detroit is bringing in a lot of Hollywood business by letting them film in the Detroit area for free. An example of this is the movie "Brick Mansions". They used the Brewster projects and the old Packard plant as sets in the movie. Things like this bring more jobs to Detroit. All in all, I do agree with you Zach; I see a comeback in the future of Detroit.
