The Lions Are a Joke

After watching the Lions play their wild card playoff game, it is safe to say that the franchise as a whole does not have the balls to win a meaningful game. Time and time again us loyal fans support our football team in the hopes that they can return the favor with a championship. As much as I hate to say it, I can guarantee that the Detroit Lions will not bring us a championship for a very long time. Sure, some people might disagree and say that the team is on the uprising and they now have the talent to be one of the top teams in the league but that only proves my point even more. The fact that the team has abundance of talent shows that it is not a personnel issue, it is an issue within the culture of the franchise. Why do teams like the Green Bay Packers continue to win every year? It is due to the fact that they do not accept losing as a franchise and the culture within the locker room is all based on winning. The Lions do not have this type of culture. Instead of playing every year like it is their last, our same old lions play each year with the attitude of "well there's always next year". Just like any business, it starts at the top and maybe the current ownership isn't suited to bring us our championship.

The Lions should model themselves after the Eagles:

  2. I would have to disagree with you on that statement. I believe that the true problem for the Detroit organization is in the front office based on their decisions with contracts and draft picks. The Detroit Lions are notorious for their bad boy D-line which is lead by Ndamukong Suh but are secondary is terrible. In our secondary we have no standout safeties nor corners. We had the ability to draft(now standout rookie) Darqueze Dennard from MSU. Instead the Lions went offense with Eric Ebron to help a struggling Matthew Stafford (didn't do much). Plus we just signed Matt Stafford to a 3 year extension and not to forget we still are struggling to come to terms with Ndamukong Suh. So we will soon be looking at a huge salary cap penalty.
